Rev'd Gussie Walsh

I have been known as Gussie since the age of three - and was only called Alexandra when I stepped out of line! I am married to Mark and have two children, Holly and Zac, who both live in London.

Job prior to ordination:

For over 30 years we had our own Gallery & Picture Framing Studio in Guildford, Surrey. This was a great experience as I loved meeting people, hearing the stories behind the pictures and objects which were brought in, and mucking about with paints, gold leaf, varnish and mount card. I also learnt to expect the unexpected - as you never knew what might come in through the Studio door. It ranged from a watercolour by Turner, to a pair of decorator's size 20+ jeans which looked like a Jackson Pollock creation,to shards of medieval and Roman pottery from the excavations of the Port of London.

I trained at Wycliffe Theological College In Oxford and rediscovered my youth with a bunch of ordinands who taught me that 'fun' was an important ingredient for Jesus' gift of an abundant life.

I served my curacy in the Benefice of Penrith in Cumbria which had two town and two rural churches.

I was given responsibility for the rural churches during this time, and discovered the benefits of having a school and a pub in the village to link up with. This has been a wonderful experience mainly due to the generous and forgiving Cumbrian heart, the incredible landscape of the fells and pennines, and an imaginative, humorous and creative training incumbent.

BUT while that gives you something about our past, Mark and I are more interested in the future and the prospect of sharing our lives with you in Buckingham.

While in some ways it seems rather daunting, we pray that God will bless our time with you and your community, and that I won't get called Alexandra too many times in the years ahead!
