16th  December 2018                                  Third Sunday of Advent

Welcome to Buckingham Parish Church - If you are new or just visiting do please make yourself known to one of the clergy or the welcome team – we’d love to get to know you. We have great provision for children in all our services. At the 9.30am service there are age-appropriate groups for ages 3 to Yr 6. There are also two zones at the back of church for younger children to play whilst the service continues and they are in the care of their parent/carer. At our 11am service we have a group for primary aged children and at 6pm we have a group for children in Yr 3 – Yr 6 as well as our Youth Group. The Tower Room is available in all services and has the service streamed in. It is a quieter place to go but children using it will need to be supervised by a parent/carer at all times. Please note that our 9.30am and 6.00pm services will be ‘live streamed’. If you don’t wish to be included, please sit at the rear of the church or in the side aisles. All that is recorded (for viewing later) is the sermon, featuring only the preacher.

in the unity of the Holy Spirit,

Malawi Rice Challenge: Since Fairtrade Fortnight enough rice has been sold in Buckingham to enable one Malawian farmer to send a child to secondary school for a year, so we relaunched the challenge in September and are already going through the bags of rice to help a second child.  Both brown and white rice are on sale at the Traidcraft cupboard at £3 for a kilo.  Many people have commented on how versatile it is and easy to cook.  Buy it, try it and help to change a life.

Today’s Collect
O Lord, raise up we pray, your power and come among us,
and with great might succour us;
that whereas, through our sins and wickedness we are grievously hindered in running the race that is set before us,
your bountiful grace and mercy may speedily help and deliver us;
through Jesus Christ your Son our Lord, to whom with you and the Holy Spirit, be honour and glory, now and for ever.

Pray through the week for:
Those who are ill.
All those who mourn, that they may be comforted by God’s presence.
