Families Minister

Salary:           £24,000 Full-time (pro-rata for part-time) 
Hours:            Part time – 20 hours per week (0.5 FTE)   
Location:        Buckingham 
Contract:        One Year Fixed Term (Initially)

 
This is an exciting opportunity for a visionary leader to join our ministry team at Buckingham Parish Church (BPC) to share the good news of Jesus Christ with the families both within our church and the wider community.  The thriving market town of Buckingham provides many opportunities to engage with families. The most important part of this role will be outreach to the families in our community. You will do this by taking responsibility for a weekly café run for families, a weekly toddler group and monthly messy church services. You will be building relationships and encouraging people on a journey of discipleship towards the church. You will care for them both spiritually and practically and offer strong pastoral care. The second aspect of the job is involvement in the planning and organisation of the 11am family service every Sunday. Here you will work alongside other members of the ministry team. The Families’ Minister is part of the schools ministry team and helps with organising Holiday Club.
 
We are looking for a committed Christian who is passionate about children and sharing their faith as well developing and nurturing the faith of children and their family members.
 
The successful applicant will:

  • Be called by God to work with families and have a passion to fulfill this calling.
  • Be able to support parents in family life.
  • Have a deep, personal and mature faith.
  • Be enthusiastic and outgoing, able to communicate well with all types of families.
  • Possess strong skills in pastoral care.
  • Have the ability to get alongside people of all backgrounds and build strong relationships.
  • Work well as part of a team and be willing to work alongside other churches in the area, particularly for school assemblies and Holiday Club.
  • Possess the skills and ability to both lead a team and work well alongside others.
  • Have the ability to share their own faith and story in a natural and relevant way.
  • Possess excellent organizational skills and be a self-starter who works well independently with minimal supervision.
  • Have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Be able to form, develop, resource and lead teams.
  • Be a competent user of IT, including Microsoft Office software. 

It is a genuine occupational requirement that the post-holder has an active Christian faith and it is an expectation that the post holder would join the worshipping community at our church.
