Buckingham Parish Church

Our Vision

We want to honour God and build His Kingdom here in Buckingham as a church family. We believe that God has given us a vision for 2023 and beyond where the church will be a thriving, relevant and caring Christian community serving the town.

It will be a place where all can grow, seek God and a place where lives will be transformed and changed forever.  Our vision is encapsulated in three foundational activities as follows:

BPC is a community that:

  • Worships God
  • Makes Friends and
  • Changes the world

These activities are anchored in our core values.  These values underpin all we do, how we should act and how we should seek to live out the vision God has given us. Our core values are:

  • Compassionate
  • Courageous
  • Spirit led
  • Servant-hearted
  • Fun-loving
  • Jesus centred
  • Joyful
  • Outward looking
  • Do things well
  • Generous
  • Passionate
  • Loving
  • Prayerful
  • United not uniform
  • Bible-based

Worship God - Through excellent, inspiring and engaging worship we want to draw more people into a deeper on-going relationship with God, where worship truly becomes everything in our lives. We will try:

  • Improving our corporate worship through employing a p/t worship leader, nurturing our music teams (inc. choir and band), giving opportunities for lay and youth led worship;
  • Improve our technology; improve existing PA system and install new AV system (new screens)
  • Improve the environment - this has already begun with the organ refurbishment and extra storage, and the improved lighting.

Make Friends - We will be a loving and accepting community where people are welcomed and deep/genuine relationships are grown to help us be the best we can be and grow more like Jesus.

  • Revitalising our small groups (to be known as ‘Connect Groups’) and ensuring that their focus is outward looking as well as places of learning and support.
  • Creating a leaders’ network and undertaking development for those leaders;
  • Continue to grow the welcome and hospitality provided at all services;
  • Organise a Church Family weekend away and then repeat it!

Change the World - We want to equip and encourage people to recognise and use their God-given gifts to make a difference in Buckingham and the World.

  • Continue to seek out new leaders in all activities and encourage them to undertake training and development;
  • Encourage discernment of gifts and make training available to develop skills;
  • Growing our Mission and Outreach portfolio locally and further afield.

Theology - If you want to know where we stand in terms of our theology please see here.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at BP Church for our Sunday Services starting at 9am, 11am or 6pm. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits before the services begin. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

What about my kids?

Click here for our kids programme.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Connect Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Connect Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team.
