Buckingham Parish Church

Leaving a Legacy

Legacy giving is significant for Christians, our Legacy Brochure provides an overview.

We recognise that all that we have had throughout our lives is a gift from God. He has called us to be good stewards of His resources and bless those around us. In leaving a legacy to our church we can make a real difference to the next generations. Many of the great things our church provides today are as a direct result of legacy gifts from previous generations.

In the same way that many Christians give a percentage of their income to support their church throughout their lives, so too with a legacy.

At Buckingham Parish Church we welcome all legacies and promise to use your gift to make a difference in our parish. The policy of our PCC is to use money received from legacies to help fund significant development projects in the parish, whether buildings, equipment or people.

It really helps if legacies are left for general purposes so that as circumstances change, the PCC can discuss what is the best use of the money with executors of the will. This can be a joyous experience as they discuss the donors known areas of interest. This could be anything from children’s or youth work, the elderly, music, through to buildings and facilities.

There can also be tax benefits in leaving a legacy to the church as a recognised charity. If you were to leave 10% or above, of your estate to Buckingham Parish Church, your inheritance tax rate would be reduced from 40% to 36% on all of the remainder of your taxable estate.

If you have already made a will and would like to make an amendment to now leave a legacy to the church, it is possible to add a Codicil (amendment document ) to your existing will, at no cost. You can download a Codicil here: https://www.churchlegacy.org.uk/downloads/a-codicil.pdf. If your will is more complicated, you should consult a solicitor to ensure everything is in line with your wishes.

Further information is available from ChurchLegacyOrg.UK with many useful downloads concerning making and updating wills.

For an an introduction and an overview of why legacies are important to our church, have a look at our Legacy Brochure here

If you want to talk this through in more detail, please contact our Rector, Will Pearson-Gee in confidence via the Parish Office.

Your generosity can make a real difference.

Thank you.

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at BP Church for our Sunday Services starting at 9am, 11am or 6pm. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits before the services begin. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

Getting Connected

Connect Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Connect Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team.
