CALL TO PRAYER FOR BRISTLE HILL

BREAKING NEWS!  Four buildings on Bristle Hill have come on the market.  Yesterday I had a look round (with Paul Burgess) and have to confess that I am very excited about the potential these buildings in terms of taking us to a whole new level of ministry in Buckingham.

The aim of this email (and video) is NOT to try and persuade you all of why this is such a great opportunity but simply to galvanise some prayer over this possibility.  I would love it if we could as a church commit this to prayer and that you could let me know if you sense the Lord speaking to you.  If this is not of the Lord we must lay it down.  The potentially tight timeframe has meant that I have not had the opportunity to discuss this with your PCC.

I haven’t had time to write a coherent ‘why might this be a God-given opportunity?’ but here are some initial thoughts:

  • Despite BPC quadrupling in size, we still have the same available space as we did when I arrived!
  • There is no room for the Children’s Ministry to grow and The Centre is too far away to use on a Sunday,
  • Our tiny office is rammed full of people,
  • None of the ministry staff has a desk or working space,
  • Our upstairs rooms are heavily used and the youth work is overflowing.
  • We’ve been praying about creating a school – could this be a venue (starting small)?
  • Relieving pressure on bookings in the church,
  • Creating space to rent out,
  • Enabling further family ministry,
  • Enabling further growth
  • Potentially renting out part of it to cover mortgage costs.

Please click here to see some photos and videos that I took on the visit.

The Centre is already fully booked and potentially on a long lease so this project would not in any way detract from its mission.

There would be a huge amount of work necessary to transform the site.

We believe about £750k would buy the site and works could then be carried out incrementally. We currently have no funds to allocate!

Please pray about this and pray for the PCC.

Let me know what you sense the Lord saying.  Should we, shouldn’t we?

With every blessing,

Will

Planning your Visit

A Warm Hello

The following information is specifically for those planning a visit, so that you know, beforehand, what to expect on a Sunday morning.

Where and When

We meet at BP Church for our Sunday Services starting at 9am, 11am or 6pm. When you arrive, you should be greeted by someone on our Welcome Team who will be wearing a Welcome lanyard.

We serve tea, coffee and biscuits before the services begin. It is a great way to meet people, or simply take time to find your bearings. All refreshments are free.

What about my kids?

Click here for our kids programme.

The kids group activities vary depending on the age but usually there is a friendly welcome, bible stories, testimonies, praying, music, craft, drama, fun games and free play. Please pick your children up as soon as the service finishes.

Getting Connected

Connect Groups

While Sundays are a great way to meet new people, it is often in smaller gatherings that you can really get to know someone. Being part of one of our small groups allows you to make new friends, share together and support each other. We have a variety of groups that meet throughout the week, some afternoons and some evenings. Check out Connect Groups and see if there’s one that you could join, or we can put you in touch with a small group leader who will be more than happy to invite you along to their group.

Serving and Volunteering

If you want to get involved in the life of the church and help us make Sundays run smoothly, you can sign up to serve on a team.

Other Ministries

We also run the following ministries:
